Our Urgent Pet Care Services

Our Urgent Veterinary Services Include

Urgent Exam

An urgent exam includes our licensed veterinary technician or veterinary assistant checking your pet in, checking and logging full vitals, gathering important background information and relaying details to the veterinarian. The veterinarian will then examine your pet, this includes a nose-to-tail inspection for any abnormalities (focusing on the chief complaint).
The person presenting the pet to Aspen Veterinary Service is responsible for payment. This is also true for found pets which may or may not be injured. For clarity in these matters, please consult with your local Law Enforcement Agency or an Animal Control Officer. Pets are considered private property in the state of Idaho, and therefore no state funds are available for care of injured or sick animals. Financial responsibility is always with the owner.

Aspen Veterinary Service accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Cherry, and CareCredit. Payment is always due at the time of service.

Cherry is a simple and affordable payment plan option that lets you split your pet’s care costs into manageable monthly payments.

  • No hard credit check to apply
  • Instant approval decisions
  • Choose the plan that works best for your budget
  • Apply in minutes from your phone or at our front desk

CareCredit™ is a financing option to help you pay for your pet’s treatment or procedures. It is based on the initial credit application and prior credit history. Find out if you are approved for CareCredit for vet services.

Euthanasia

An euthanasia can be performed on any sick, hurt or suffering animal. Owners are more than welcome and encouraged to be with their pet during an euthanasia (this excludes pocket pets and exotics – they must be given gas anesthesia). On arrival your pet will either be put into an exam room or brought to the back to have an IV catheter placed, then your pet and you will be put into a private room and when ready the veterinarian will come in with two drugs. Your pet will be induced with Propofol, which will make them fall asleep, then they will be euthanized by an overdose of anesthesia. The entire procedure is very gentle on your pet and you as they just “fall asleep”.

Aspen Veterinary Service has made a commitment to end animal suffering. When your pet is suffering, and you cannot afford treatment, the best alternative is euthanasia. Present your pet to Aspen Veterinary Service for a courtesy euthanasia if you cannot afford our euthanasia fee. You will not be billed for the service, but be aware that you will not be able to be present for the euthanasia and you will need to take the remains home with you. Please do not abuse this courtesy. Schedule elective euthanasia with your regular veterinarian. We reserve the right to refuse service to anybody.

Please note: Aspen Veterinary Service will NOT provide behavioral or convenient euthanasia.

Aspen Veterinary Service also offers on site cremations. Bowes Cremations was created by Annie and Pete Bowes to ensure that patients were being returned to their owners. Aspen Veterinary Service staff can assure owners that private cremations are truly private and remains are certainly their loved one.

Communal Cremation is also offered for owners who don’t wish to have their pets’ remains. These remains are then scattered privately.

I have always had a good experience taking my pups here. The only downfall is they have specific hours. I wish they were 24 hours. But overall they are a great emergency clinic.

Updated review July/2025: Took my other dog Benny here two evenings ago, it was just before closing time and we were treated so kindly by all the staff! Quick in and out and I was still blown away by how affordable my bill was! Couldn’t recommend this vet office more, 5stars ☺️ May/2025: Rowan is feeling much better after coming here! This dog mama was so thankful for them being open on a Sunday afternoon!! The cost was VERY reasonable, was very surprised by that… I expected to my bill to be significantly more

We had a cat emergency, she had delivered kittens and we had concerns that she still had a baby that wasn’t coming out. Emergency Pet saw us immediately, made sure our cat was okay (no extra babies), gave her fluids because she was dehydrated after giving birth and we were on our way within an 30 minutes. They were very nice, quick, and gave us peace of mind that our momma cat was okay.

Came in on the 4th of July and was checked in and seen by the vet tech immediately. The vet was in surgery so a short wait but was notified about that ahead of time. The vet was very kind and answered my questions. We received our meds and they even gave me a little box with ice packs for the refrigerated meds because we had a two hour drive back up to Priest. If you’re in need of an Emergency Vet, this place was great!
